Data Protection Act 1998

The Data Protection Act 1998 places concise demands, upon those organisations who hold personal data, in terms of the security of this information and the measures applied in order to protect it. The act includes specific provision for all electronic computer data, and importantly gives legal responsibility to ensure the secure removal of data from IT and other equipment that enters the public domain.
